It's springtime once again in DF, a great letup from the blizzards and freezing temperatures of winter. Actually, the weather could probably be considered the exact opposites with warm temperatures and tropical breezes. There are few rainstorms here and there but no lacking severe enough to cause a drought, spring is acting more like early summer then late winter this year.

General .no power playing or god modding .no fighting out of character .do not give away any personal information .do not date or meet with anyone on dream fields .do not join as a character that is on the reserved names list .only join as a realistic horse character (no odd colors or mutations) .posts must be 100+ words
Claiming .stallions may claim mares & land .mares may not claim .mares can inherit land through their fathers (filly must be born in dream fields) .once claimed, you may not leave the herd without the permission of the alpha .2 herds per ip address are allowed .you may not rule two royal lands .if an alpha stallion dies, the lead mare may rule alone up to one month. if she finds a mate in that time, she may keep her position
Breeding .you may breed during any season .short breeding is allowed .no graphic breeding unless you put a G in the title .if you do not want a foal put: [no foal] and if you want the foal to die at birth put: XX in the title .post the sire & dams stats immediately after you're done breeding .foals will be born in 1 real week after the sire & dams stats are posted .mares must wait 2 weeks to breed again .stallions may breed as many times as desired .we may choose to make mares have miscarriages, twins, or any gender of foal
Fighting .you may not fight for positions in a herd unless the alpha approves .the alpha appoints positions and may take them away .you may fight the alpha for his herd .3 Attacks // 2 blocks each .posts must be at least 300 words long but no longer than 1000. nobody wants to sit and read posts that take up the entire page. .each character has 2 chances to decline a fight without consequence. .Commoners: 3 day break after a fight .Royals: 1 week break after a fight .5 days to reply to a challenge .4 days max to reply to a battle post
Stealing .must be done in riddle form .only alpha stallion or mare may stop a steal. .they only get 3 guesses or 2 days to stop a steal. .you may only make 3 steals a day per character. .you may not steal the lead stallion of a royal herd. .you may steal lead stallions of commoner herds.
Raiding .raiding is done in riddle form .you need at least 2 stallions, or one stallion in two mares .each stallion, or every two mares, can take one horse from the targeted herd if the raid is valid .30 hrs to stop a raid after it has been posted .all raiders must post before the time begins the alpha stallion must stop it by posting a block on their herd .only the alpha has to post a riddle. the others just have to confirm that they're involved in a short reply

!!!Graphic Breeding!!!
So The staff and I have noticed a LOT of graphic breeding going on lately. It seems to us that the people who have been taking part in it have not been doing so maturely. Graphic breeding is NOT supposed to be like cyber sex with horses, rather a mature way to roleplay breeding to create a point. It is useful for rapes and to express the love the stallion and mare have for each other, not the action of the "tool" inside the mare etc. To be honest, we're getting pretty sick of the disturbing content in some of these posts.
SO.... This is what we're going to do:
We're going to restrict the graphic breeding ability to once per month per member (not character). Also along with that, there shall be NO MENTION of the "sex" involved.
There are two reasons why we are doing this: 1. It is disturbing to a majority of members (myself included) 2. DF can be deleted because of this. Proboards has a strict policy on things of this nature.
Please follow our guidelines with this, and respect this decision. If people continue to roleplay graphic breeding immaturely, all graphic breeding will be banned.

BREEDING REGULATION
The staff members who make your stats after you breed, are noticing a pattern, the stats aren't as free anymore because the demands and requests of the members who want said foal[s] are very high. Especially for twins. So the conclusion to this problem, for the better of the DF Foals, and the uniqueness of each new character, requesting and demaning twins, personality, gender, en ecetera is banned. If you feel like you are entitled to ask for something, then you can do it, but there will be a high chance that your stats won't get made, or the exact foal[s] you wanted born stillborn. You may still request odd colored or normal colored foals, but nothing else. Creativity is a virtue.
BREEDING INFORMATION
To make this much easier on us staff you MUST include ::
1.) The two horses that are breeding in the title of the thread. Example : Red Robin x Blue Jay
2.) The foal's name IN the thread.
3.) If you do not know the name of the foal at the time of the breeding PM Cherise with the foal's name and parents once you figure it out.
Remember - These three things MUST be included when you breed. (otherwise the foal will be a stillborn. No exceptions)

REGARDING STEALTHY COVE
Raiding & Blocking Raids
HOW TO RAID:: The lead must post a riddle for the herd he/she is going to raid. The raiders must follow up with a post letting us know that they are involved. Once the final raider has posted, the blocking period will begin. Each raider may take one horse from the opposing herd if successful. You may not raid a herd that has 4 or less members.
HOW TO BLOCK A RAID:: You have 24 hours to block. Three members [any rank] of the herd must post a block. Only because we do not expect each alpha to be on every day. If a herd successfully blocks a raid, they may take one -regular member- from the herd that started the raid.
!!New Challenge Rule in Effect!!
Once your challenge is ready to be judged, each person must choose one staff member to judge your battle. If there is a tie, a third staff member will volunteer to judge and break the tie. If you do not do this, your battle WILL NOT be judged!

the same basic rules apply as for equines with just a few exceptions and restrictions. if you have any questions about these rules please pm me (nevreme) and i will answer to the best of my ability.
regarding shadow creatures in general .you may not join as a shadow creature. if you want to play one keep a look out for audition threads. .you may only have TWO (2) threads per character. meaning if you play a shadow creature it may only be in two separate threads at once. this does not affect the number of shadow creatures in one thread. .only one land in each alliance may be claimed by a shadow creature at the moment. we dont want df overrun....yet xD .the royal lands may NOT be claimed or challenged for by shadow creatures. .shadow creatures may have equine slaves and low herd members but since they think of them only as useless food items they may not have high ranking equines in their lands. .shadow creatures travel in pairs, no less. .if they are found traveling outside their lands alone, they can be defeated if encountered by two equines. .if defeated, the shadow creature dies. this way they are able to reproduce and keep the population low. .they may not be defeated if they are with one or more shadow creatures, they will just be scared away. .if the shadow creatures win an attack, the character has the choice to be killed or become a slave. .when the shadow creatures enter a territory, they will summon the king or lord. at that point, other equines will either need to jump in to scare the shadow creatures away or let them take over. .if the shadow creatures take over, everyone in the lands will either die or become prisoner (so everyone better help defend each other). it more or less makes this a game of activity and allies. .horses from other herds and alliances may defend you.. but they may choose not to because of a bad history of war with your harem. .all shadow creatures involved in an attack must post within 24 hours. all horses must post within 48 hours. (only because it takes less time to raid then find horses to defend).
regarding kittens and foals .only the empress and her consort may mate this season. after that your pair must get permission from both the ruling pair and me (nevreme). .kitten stats will be given only by select staff members and your kittens will probably be adopted out. as the parents you may each get one, this has not yet been discussed. .it will take at least four foals under the age of one year to scare away shadow creatures or defeat them. .if foals are unattended by a parent, guardian or three other foals they may be eaten or taken prisoner by the shadow creatures. .one parent may scare away two shadow creatures on their own if they have a foal with them. .two unrelated adults are required to scare away shadow creatures from a foal if their parents are not around. .after a shadow creature is born it may not attack until after two weeks of age.(note; this means two weeks after you start roleplaying the kitten NOT two weeks after the stats are given)

So this whole away/hiatus thing is getting freaking annoying. Here's what we're going to do::
POSTING AS AWAY
.you may not post anywhere
.you may not talk in the cbox
.all steals/raids/challenges toward you are invalid
.if you make a steal and then someone posts as away, you must bump the thread the day that they come back to continue the time. by bump i mean reply with the word "bump!" so that we can see the time.
.the same rule above applies to challenges & raids.
.so basically if you posted as away, the only thing you should be doing is logging on and managing private messages.
.if you are caught breaking any of these, your away will automatically discontinue.
ALPHAS
.if you're going to be away for two weeks or more and have no mate, you must leave the beta in charge of the lands until you return!
.because of this new rule, steals are allowed on all herds.
.if there is no one to watch your territory while you are gone, they will be back up for grabs.. so make sure you build up your herds!
.one of the two alphas must post somewhere in dream fields at least once every two weeks to keep their herd. that's not a lot.. in fact that is barely active.
THESE RULES START NOW. ALL MEMBERS WHO ARE AWAY, MUST HAVE SOMEONE ELSE IN CHARGE OF THEIR LAND AND I SHOULDN'T SEE THEM POSTING UNTIL THEY RETURN. IF YOUR LEADERS ARE AWAY RIGHT NOW, THE BETA IS IN CHARGE. A BREAK MEANS A BREAK. AWAY MEMBERS MAY REPLY TO THIS TOPIC ONLY IF NECESSARY.
